Living In NZ

I thought in readiness for the new site coming on line and having a few extra hours in the day while I keep Emily (my new Daughter entertained I’d update the blog a bit and just get it back on line preperlay and get some new posts on the board.

So… About this PLace.

For me, and I’m sure it’s the same with a lot of bloggers the idea of telling complete strangers all about yourself isn’t the idea of a blog, well not this one although I get that its a conswquence of the blog. What it does do is let family & friends back in Scotland keep track of things with me down in NZ. The 11-13hr time difference depending on the time of year plays havoc with phone calls and emails take a bit of time so I thought at the time this would be a grat idea.

It also serves as a place where i can talk a bit about my photography although I’m toying a  bit with integrating a bit of a miniblog into the new site but haven’t really decided if that’s the way to go, it takes me a chunck of time to keep updating here! In the mean time thos rambles will be here and at times they are rambles as I’m trying to figure stuff out with photography.

That may sound bizzaqre but I do actually hink that’s what I’m doing both conciously and subconiously. I’ve made images that mean a lot to me and say things to me at the time that when I go back to them I still see and feel the same, and that’s something I’m very prou of. I did a series of images of Laphroig in Islay where we laid my father’s ashes to rest that I love, each tiem I look att hem I o feel the sadnessof the day but I also know he would have got  amassive kick out of us being able to do it.

Other images that I’ve made have been a result of something that I got in my head and knew it would take 5 or 6 or more images to make it but I got the results. At the time I didn’t know what I was trying to say and it’s only, sometimes, when someone prompts you to think abotu what the image is about that you sudden;y go… OOOooo I should have known that… had I known what some of my images were really about it may have freaked me out a little or pushed me towards a decision that I was putting off, but there you go.

So yes, it;s a place of self reflection, of information and of general confusion (and the occassional spelling mistake!) By way of a couple of samples images… hav a peek below!
